Welkom at Icelandic horsefarm "De Kronkel"!

De Kronkel is a private horsefarm in the south of the Netherlands. On a small scale we breed Icelandic horses with our mares in the Netherlands and on Iceland. Also we organise riding tours for a limited group of people and we are frequently seen at competitions in the Netherlands and Belgium as we compete with our own-bred horses. On this website you will find information and news updates of our farm and horses. Also we'll regularly offer horses for sale.

 

"De Kronkel" started by purchasing Stjarna frá Bakkakoti of Thom Ruijsbroek in 1993. Stjarna was imported from Iceland with high judgement scores for trot and character: 8,5. In 1994 she gave birth to her first foal with us, Áki. Since then we have had many foals of her and her offspring. This year the second foal of the fifth generation in her line was born, Rima. Apart from the broodmares that originate from this breeding line of Stjarna (Áki, Elfra, Ekra, Freyja, Háki, Kengála and Jóra), De Kronkel has attracted new broodmares in the course of time; Lögg frá Sólskini, Yrsa and Ögn frá Buðarhóli.

		Lögg has had three foals at De Kronkel: El Niño (1998), Frodo (1999) and Rimur (2010). El Niño became Dutch Champion in T5 in 2005! Lögg is now pregnant of our stallion Ögny and we expect his first foal next year!
		Yrsa has given birth to 5 foals on De Kronkel; Fengur (1998), Gráska (2000), Iso (2002), Jóki (2003) and Lagsi (2005). Jóki is regularly found on competitions and is making rapid progress. Yrsa is also expecting a foal next year of our own bred stud Ögny frá Hófi.
		Ögn's residence is on Iceland where she got a son (Landfari frá Hofi) in 2005 of Rökkvi frá Harlaugsstöðum, champion of the Landsmót of 2004! Ögn gave De Kronkel three more foals afterwards; Niña (2007) of the stallion Brjánn frá Sauðárkróki; Ögny (2008) of Borði frá Fellskoti; and Rupa (2010) of Sveinn-Hervar. Next year she will have a foal of Huginn frá Haga.
		Our own-bred Jóra littered a colt in 2008 of the famous stallion Fáni frá Hafsteinsstöðum. His name is Ótrauður.
